Blackbird Theater is proud to present Roger’s Version, an original adaptation of the John Updike novel, written and directed by Blackbird Artistic Director Wes Driver.

The story follows Roger Lambert, a bad-tempered divinity professor who finds his staid academic life and complacent faith challenged by the zealous ideas of Dale Kohler, a grad student who seeks to prove God’s existence through computer technology.

“I’ve been wanting to turn Roger’s Version into a play for years,” says Driver. “The struggle between science and faith is so dynamically and dramatically realized, the ideas so weighty, the dialogue so clever and compelling—it’s perfect material for Blackbird and our mission to produce intellectually engaging theatre.”

Roger’s Version features David Compton, Kris Wente, Amanda Card, and Corrie Miller and is produced by Greg Greene. It will run May 30 – June 8, 2014, in Lipscomb University’s Shamblin Theatre and is co-sponsored by the Lipscomb University Department of Theatre and the Christian Scholars Conference.
